![]() ![]() The mode that EA was allowing eager journos to get their hands on was a two-player cat-and-mouse chase mode. Download need for speed hot pursuit exe license#It's truly a developer and license marriage made in petrolhead heaven. This being Criterion, Hot Pursuit is a stunningly beautiful game that thunders along at an electric pace. This makes the game all about blasting along arrow-straight highways, around sweeping curves and up winding mountain roads riddled with hairpins. Your playground is an enormous open-world environment rather than the choked, congested streets of a city. In Hot Pursuit, the cops are just as kitted out as the racers. Imagine the terror of a gang of chain-smoking 13 year-olds in a stolen Cavalier as the fastest production car on the planet flicks on the blues and twos behind them. To ensure the police aren't left in a cloud of tyre smoke, the Burnout developer has decided to bend the rules a bit Imagine if a police force, instead of paying their executives astonishing salaries, fired the lot and blew taxpayers' money on a set of Bugatti Veyron pursuit vehicles. It's all about the most exotic, desirable vehicles in the world and driving them as if you're being chased by an Apache gunship. This is also the reason why Criterion promise that, unlike more recent entries in the series, you won't see any Ford Focuses stinking up this game. This is a game dedicated to the glory of highspeed police chases. Criterion know this, which is why you'll be going hell for leather at all times in Hot Pursuit. Supporting EA in another anti-consumer tactic of making players pay for the same but worse game once again, as if supporting EA alone isn't a good enough reason to stay away.Car chases should be about outrageous velocity, a total disregard for the rules of the road, and as many hard handbrake turns as you can make before your bicep pops out of your arm and slaps against the windscreen. And the game keeps throwing them at you after every race to the point where it's just meaningless and a bit annoying to skip through the messages. The cars generally all feel the same, and there's no customization. And it's even more lackluster than it sounds because: Definitely the point of playing as the cops. Playing as a cop has you spend the first hours not chasing suspects or shutting down races, it's you by yourself racing against the clock. Bad career mode: generally very very easy but time-consuming. After it's over, you're teleported to the area where you were, often on the wrong side of a curve, and sometimes ruining your positioning to take out the next car. When you hit someone with any equipment like spikes or take them down, the game will interrupt you for a cutscene. If you like grip, you'll not enjoy yourself here. The angles in which you can turn are very very narrow, and a lot of the time you will have to drift even in wide corners where the mere idea to drift them would be ridiculous. Very bad handling, which is why the cars feel so heavy in general in the first place. ![]() If you have the lead on another but it's a bit to your side so that you can slam it, well, you can't, the game will consider the other car slamming into you, probably because it only expects the car behind to slam the car in front. When you slam it into another car, it has impact of maybe half its weight. When you drive normally the car feels incredibly heavy. Wonky physics, the weight of the cars is inconsistent. You can surprise it in corners if you're close, but it doesn't matter, most you can do is give it a tiny nudge because: Atrocious rubberbanding: when the AI decides you should get ahead, you get ahead. No sense of speed, speedometer is the only way to really tell if you're at 200s or 300s km/h No wheel support (the original in 2010 had wheel support) In the remaster you don't get amazing graphics either, what you get is: ![]() Graphics are a bit better, but they were certainly not outdated trashy graphics in the 2010 release or anything that would warrant its death. Massive downgrade from the original, which EA killed forcing players to pay again for the same game.Įxcept that it's not really the same game, it's worse. ![]()
